Overview
What Is Circadian Sleep?
A central circadian clock located in the brain helps
regulate our sleep-wake cycles. We also have peripheral circadian clocks
that govern essential biological processes, such as blood pressure and
kidney function. But aging and other lifestyle factors can disrupt
circadian clocks. Circadian Sleep combines melatonin with a novel citrus
peel extract to help encourage healthy function of both central and
peripheral circadian clocks.
Circadian clocks exist in
virtually every cell of our bodies and are organized hierarchically,
with the central clock setting the pace by regulating healthy sleep-wake
cycles.
Circadian Sleep Benefits
- Restores healthy circadian rhythms
- Supports healthy sleep-wake cycles
- Promotes peripheral circadian rhythms
- Supports whole-body health
Our Circadian Health Formula
By supporting
both central and peripheral circadian clocks, our Circadian Sleep
represents an innovative, restorative approach to promoting healthy
circadian rhythms, resulting in multiple benefits for whole-body health.
Circadian Sleep combines melatonin with a novel citrus peel
extract to encourage healthy function of both central and peripheral
circadian clocks, respectively. MicroActive® Melatonin promotes optimal
sleep-wake cycles, and nobiletin from young citrus peel supports healthy
expression of genes that govern peripheral circadian rhythms.
More facts about Circadian Sleep
Aging, hectic modern lifestyles and other factors can disrupt our circadian clocks, which can affect our health.1-3
So we developed our Circadian Sleep formula to restore these natural
rhythms: MicroActive® Melatonin supports the central clock in the brain,
while nobiletin young citrus peel extract promotes healthy peripheral
clocks, which control the rest of the body.
Melatonin for healthy sleep-wake cycling
Peripheral circadian clocks exist in virtually every cell of our
bodies and are organized hierarchically, with the central clock setting
the pace by regulating healthy sleep-wake cycles.4 Melatonin, known as the “sleep hormone,” is primarily synthesized at night in the brain by the pineal gland.5
Melatonin ensures that the central clock is properly supporting
sleep-wake cycles and aligning the peripheral clocks with the sleep-wake
cycles for whole-body health.
The first step to healthy, whole-body circadian rhythms is to restore that central clock with melatonin.
Nobiletin for healthy peripheral circadian rhythms
Peripheral circadian clocks in various organs govern essential
biological processes: heart rate, body temperature, hormone release,
blood pressure, liver, kidney and pancreatic function and more.6-8
Nobiletin is a polymethoxylated flavone isolated from young citrus
peel. Results from a recent pre-clinical study suggest that nobiletin
may also help positively support peripheral circadian rhythms.9
It does so by directly activating a unique set of receptors widely
expressed throughout the body and known to play a key role in supporting
circadian rhythms.10-14 It has also been shown to exhibit
neuroprotective and antioxidant properties as well as promote a healthy
inflammatory response.15
Nobiletin promotes whole-body health
In another pre-clinical study, nobiletin supports the expression of
circadian genes which themselves control the expression of other genes
with specific circadian functions in every cell.16 Healthy
expression of genes controlling circadian rhythms supports metabolic,
cognitive, liver and kidney health and also helps maintain healthy blood
pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels already within the normal
range.17-20
