To assess your body's ability to repair aging cells and tissue,
this panel tests for insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and interleukin-6 (IL-6).
IGF-1, a.k.a. somatomedin C.
This panel contains the following tests:
IGF-1, also called somatomedin C, is primarily produced by the liver as an endocrine hormone and plays an influential role in virtually every system from muscle, bone, and connective tissue growth and repair, to the selective regulation of various aspects of metabolism, as well as helping maintain normal brain function and cardiac health.
IL-6 acts as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. It is secreted by immune cells in response to trauma and cellular damage related to the aging process. IL-6 is essential to the body’s ability to repair aging cells and tissues.
Life Extension® tests IGF-1 and IL-6 together because both proteins are associated with the regeneration of healthy tissues.
Instructions
