The body’s heavy-duty antioxidant defense
Generally,
glutathione exists in several different forms, including both reduced
and oxidized states. In your body, the reduced form of glutathione is
better at scavenging for free radicals, fulfilling its role as an
antioxidant. Only thing is, glutathione levels decrease as you age. So
if oxidative stress is on your mind, consider adding a daily 500 mg dose
of the reduced form of glutathione to your routine!
What is glutathione?
Glutathione is an antioxidant in the body made up of three amino
acids: glycine, cysteine and glutamate. It is sometimes nicknamed the
“master antioxidant.”
What is reduced glutathione?
Glutathione exists in two forms, the oxidized and reduced forms. The
reduced form, also known as the active form, is known for scavenging
free radicals. This reduced or active form is the type of glutathione
used in this supplement.
What are free radicals?
Day-to-day life produces substances called free radicals that
circulate in the body. While they are normally the result of stress,
free radicals can be caused by other environmental factors like smoke
and pollutants. When the body produces too many free radicals, it can
cause oxidative stress—which impacts the body and its cells.
What is the dosage of this product?
This product provides 250 mg of reduced glutathione per capsule. It is suggested to take two capsules a day.
When is the best time to take Glutathione? Should it be taken before or after a meal?
This product can be taken any time of the day, with or without food, based on your preference.
Will this supplement interact with my medication?
There is no indication that the glutathione in this formula would
negatively interact with prescription medications. However, if you take
any prescription medications and want to know more about potential
interactions when taking this supplement, you should discuss
supplementing with your physician.
Has this product been tested for heavy metal contamination?
All raw materials go through stringent testing to meet our
high-quality standards. Testing is performed for microbes, heavy
metals, disintegration, potency and quantity of active ingredients in
the finished product. Only when raw materials meet Life Extension’s
specifications are they released for production. A Certificate of
Analysis (COA) can be provided upon request for all our products.
Are there any major allergens in this product?
Glutathione does not contain any of the 9 major allergens required
on the label under the Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education, and
Research (FASTER) Act. This means it is free of milk, eggs, fish,
crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, sesame and soybeans.
Where is this product manufactured?
Glutathione is manufactured in the USA.
Is this product vegetarian?
Yes, this product is vegetarian and does not contain any animal-derived ingredients.
Can children take this product?
This product was designed for adults over 18. Always consult with
your child’s pediatrician before giving them any supplements.
What is glutathione?
Your body makes glutathione with three amino acids: glycine, cysteine, and glutamate.1
It’s considered the body’s master antioxidant because it protects
cellular activity from within the cells, but it also regenerates other
antioxidants and acts as a cofactor for many enzymes.1-3 Glutathione is also involved in the metabolism of certain compounds that can increase free radical activity.4
Glutathione in the body
In the body, glutathione exists in two forms: reduced and oxidized states.5
When it’s in its reduced form, glutathione is actively scavenging for
free radicals. When it’s oxidized, glutathione is inactive and cannot
fulfill its role as an antioxidant. Our glutathione formula delivers 500
mg of the active form of glutathione (reduced glutathione) in every
serving.
What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are substances that inhibit oxidation at the cellular
level. They work by quenching free radicals, compounds that cause
unwanted cellular reactions. Glutathione, aka the body’s master
antioxidant, is a superstar at scavenging free radicals before they can
cause cellular stress, protecting your cells so they can function
optimally.
